Hey guys, it’s been a while since I did anything from the 30 Day Sketch Challenge, but I am going to do all of them, darn it!

Even though I’m a man of faith (God, Heaven, the whole enchilada) I am terrified of dying. If I think long enough about it, I just get really freaked out. I guess I feel like when it’s your time to go, it’s your time to go and you’re on your own whether you like it or not. You’re just gone.
So now that I’ve thoroughly depressed everyone/made them come to grips with their mortality, I hope you guys like the drawing! Heh…
“Learning How To Fly”

I went a little further with this “sketch” but here’s the story: I was googling “Thanksgiving” to get inspired for this particular challenge and I found this image. I decided at that moment that I had to draw this Thanksgiving glamor-portrait. It’s just… LOOK AT IT. Anyway, sorry kid.

16) Something that represents your favorite song

“The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. I” by Neutral Milk Hotel is the song I picked and if you’ve never heard it, click here now and listen carefully to each lyric.
One of my all time favorite songs. I’m a big, dopey romantic at heart and this song just does it for me. To me, it’s about making love; not nameless, lusty sexy stuff but pure, deep, true love and learning how to love somebody else. “And this is the room one afternoon I knew I could love you/And from above you how I sank into your soul/Into that secret place where no-one dares to go.”
Songs don’t get a whole lot better than that.
So I tried to put all of that into some art; two people learning how to love each other. I took it a little literally and pictured the King of Carrot Flowers as an actual person with his lover. If you look hard enough, you can see other references to the song scattered about.

15) Someone from your favorite video game

Darunia, king of the Gorons! Ocarina is my favorite game of all time and if you haven’t played it, there’s this scene where you play him the Lost Woods song and he goes CRAZY. He starts jumping around and stamping about and I still think it’s one of the best parts of the game. “HOT!! What a hot beat!”

13) A Group Picture

It’s not finished, but I’m working on a drawing the the mystery gang from Scooby Doo! I’ll post the finished product when it’s done. Now, I don’t think a lot of kids actually liked the ol’ Doo, but I watched it a lot as a kid. I always knew that the bad guys weren’t really ghosts or monsters but I knew that projectors and pulleys were involved and wanted to see how those ‘meddling kids’ were going to figure it out. I was particularly into “New Scooby Doo Movies” where they had guest stars like Batman & Robin and Josie and the Pussycats. Anyway, here you go!

12) An inanimate object

I seriously couldn’t be bothered to spend a second more on this. I would rather take a sharp stick to the eye than draw an inanimate still life, so I grabbed the brush and made this in a few minutes. GLAD THAT’S OVER WITH.
So, I guess I’m really into my faerie-elf fantasy drawings right now and I thought it’d be fun to make an evil black knight kinda dude. He’s probably the evil brother of the nice looking prince guy.
