My life has turned into Bob’s Burgers and drawing punks with mischievous faces.

I am okay with this.

Took my girlfriend out for a picnic a little while back and I thought it’d be fun and sorta cute if I drew a picture of all the things we brought, KaliEats-style. We ate by a pond that had a tree growing out of it and there were badass ducks dive-bombing into the water and geese that hissed at us when we got too close to their fuzzy babies. The lilacs were also in bloom and we stole some and put it on my car’s dash.

Anyway, without further ado, here is Love Food 2012:

-Romaine salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette, diced red onion, black olives, diced tomato, freshly grated parmesan and a few shakes of salt and pepper for luck.

-Two different kinds of Doritos tortilla chips to keep things street-level.

-Walnut brownies made from scratch (The brownies were overcooked, a little too chocolatey and made in the wrong sized pan because we both are kickass cooks that also thoroughly suck at baking. Also sad because the cocoa powder I bought was really expensive)

-Backup Oreos for dessert in case we really didn’t want to eat the badbrownies. (We both agree that the outside cookie is better than the cream center part)

-Grilled Caprese-style paninis made with fresh artisan bread, lightly brushed with olive oil, schmear of pesto, fresh mozz, touch of balsamic vinegar and organic tomatoes/basil leaves to finish.

-Milk (2%) that we bottled for eating with the Oreos and/or badbrownies.

-Arnold Palmer. (Half lemonade/half iced tea, both of which we also made ourselves)

-Two mason jars for drinking/stuffing napkins into

Crazy girl! Real fun to draw, couldn’t decide on colors, so here’s some grayscale for y’all!

Said this to myself.

Then I laughed, and I laughed, and I laughed.

I think I’m drawing a crazy Japanese demon-girl in a captain’s hat. Super fun oh so powerful drawing!

A drawing with a few of my favorite things.

(Mischievous attitude, eyebatches, scrapper bandages, vintage helmets, bomber jackets, oldschool riding gloves, etc.)

For an art trade with davevaleza!

I asked him for something “Zelda” and he asked me for something “Star Trek” so this is what I came up with for him.

I wanted to stay away from the same ol’ same ol, so for whatever reason I kept seeing this image in my head of Spock as a super cool, sexy secret agent in space with an eye patch and a scar. Illogical.

Finally finished my Gurren Lagann fan art!

I want to talk about why I love this series, even though I’ve only just started watching it. Now, giant, beautiful mecha fights and action sequences aside, the reason I keep coming back to this show is the immense heart it has. From episode one, this show is all about wanting more than settling for what’s been handed to you, and having the courage to throw caution to the wind and chase after your dreams, even if those dreams seem really stupid to everyone else. It’s about constantly digging upwards and piercing through heaven. It’s about believing in yourself, and if you can’t do that, believing in the support and love that your friends have for you. It’s about brotherhood and creating the bonds that turn strangers into family.

This is why I love this show so much, and this is why I wanted to make some fan art in dedication to it. If you appreciate Gurren Lagann as much as I do, I hope you dig it.

THIS IS SO COOL.

Karioks drew my character Lady Knight and it makes me want to throw up rainbows of joy and excitement. Seriously, so happy with this. GAH!

I sound like a big ol’ doofus, but here’s part 1/4 of the art video I promised quite a few people that I’d make. If you ever asked me a question about brush sizes, layers, digitally drawing, etc. this should clear a few things up. I go into how I made that wolf-guy drawing, so there you go!)

(Seriously, this will bore you out of your gourd if you weren’t one of those kids with questions for me regarding my artistic process, but you can watch anyway!)
